Stay tuned for more information, but whole foods is interested in tiny tales for their regional 'buy local' program. Not sure if they are going to carry it yet, and not sure how many stores, but it is very exciting!!

bye bye duckie!

We've been working really hard on leaving duckie and binkie in the house when we go out. Usually I wait until he is distracted and hide them, and he never notices. Then we can get out of the house without a problem. This morning he wanted to leave the house with them. I said "we leave duckie and binkie in the house so they will be safe. Please put them on your special shelf." He did that, and we were almost out the door when he pulled me back inside very insistently. He went over to duckie and gave it a kiss, then was ready to go outside.

Psst....

Sometimes I will say "psst" to Trey when I we are playing around and I sneak up behind him. This morning we were walking out to the car, and when we got to the bushes where there are usually butterflies, I said "let's see if we can find the butterflies." He leans down close to the bush, and said "psst!" It was too funny!

I did bath tonight and discovered some new words that Trey knows - drain and stick (he has foam letters that stick on the side of the tub)

Oddly enough, he doesn't really say no that often. But I know this is coming.

This morning I drew a little heart on his hand, can told him it was a tattoo. He repeated the word back a few times. Then when we got go school, I said "where is your tattoo" and he pointed right to it!

Such a nice boy!

We have a cabinet where we keep Trey's breakfast bars and granola bars. We call them sussies. Each morning when we leave for school he gets one to eat in the car. This week I've been letting him pick out his own sussie, and he gets 2, hands one of them to me and says "here you go!"

Lil' Copycat

Trey has always had a thing with lotion bottles - the kind with the flip up cap, not the pump. Even when he was a baby he loved to hold them, chew on them, and squeeze them. I let him pull them all out of the bathroom closet when I am getting ready in the morning.

This morning he pulled out some different bottles with pump tops, and as I watched him, I realized he was pretending to use the pump, then he gently put the bottle down and rubbed his hands together like he was putting on lotion. He is just the most adorable thing and I love seeing what he picks up.

Mister Sun, Sun, Mister Golden Sun

When we drive to school in the morning, there are some places where the sun shines right in Trey's eyes. He used to whine about it until I found a solution. Now I watch in the mirror and whenever sun shines in his eyes, I start yelling in a high pitched voice - Oh No! The sun is too bright! Close your eyes tight! The sun is too bright for the baby! Trey thinks it is hilarious and laughs and squints his eyes. Now he starts laughing and closing his eyes right before the sunny parts. It is a fun game.

When I grow up.....

If trey was an adult right now, he would either be a pro sports player or a shoe salesman.

He loves to bring you your shoes, and he is pretty good about picking out matching ones. He always wants to put them on your feet. He'll get down on the floor with a big groan like an old man, and gently lift up your foot. He then shakes the dirt out of the shoe like I do with his, and puts it on your foot. He loves this routine, and we do it at least once a day!

Is this normal?

Trey can say and recognize the difference between soccer ball, baseball, basketball, football, and big ball (the workout ball). Is this normal for a 19 month old? I feel like it is really advanced, but what do I know?

New word

Trey knows the word eyes. This morning he was very interested in trying to touch Quinn's eyes.

Long way to go to my goal of 15 per day, but I’m getting closer!  The response to the products have really been more than I imagined.  To think that really I have only been in business for 3 ½ months – it is all so exciting.

Starting October 1 I have hired a PR firm to get me into the big magazines – Parenting, Parents, Cookie, etc.  No guarantees, but I am hopeful!

Trey's First Tricycle

And now a note from our guest blogger.... GiGi!

I arrived in Boston on Friday afternoon for three quick nights with Trey! All too short but still sweet to spend time with Trey (and his parents, too, of course!)

We bought Trey his first tricyle this weekend, and he was a riot riding it. He can either pedal or steer - but not both at the same time. Lara and I spent quite a bit of time trying to keep him headed in the right direction! Should be some great pictures from the afternoon!

Joe made a great stew tonight and really made me realize how hot Austin is! It won't be stew weather there for a couple of months.

Trey is talking up a storm and is such a precious baby. I can hardly wait until I see him again in December.

Ahhhhh, young love

Trey and Vanessa are so adorable together! As soon as we get close to daycare, he starts saying her name (buh-huh). As soon as we walk in, she comes running over and Trey bounces up and down like he does when he is excited. She'll give me a kiss or a hug (always good to suck up to the parents...she's learning early!), then they'll run off to play. If he gets out a truck, he'll get another one for her and say "here you go." So adorable!

Sticker

Trey must have learned 'sticker' at daycare because this morning he said 'meena sticker' about the dole sticker on the banana.

Since Trey can repeat just about everything you say, I am changing the definition of a "new word" for blog purposes to a word that he uses on own.

For example, today when I picked him up from daycare, he pointed to and said shovel.

The biggest boo-boo so far

I thought his scab looked bad from falling out of the stroller, but this boo-boo takes the cake. We were at Grampy's house in Weirton, and Trey ran full speed into a drawer that was open. He also didn't like me taking a picture of it.

Trey learned pillow and backpack this weekend!

 

Joe had him on our bed, and he was going back and forth between our sides of the bed putting his head on the pillows saying "mommy's pillow" and "daddy's pillow."

 

He also took Trey for a walk, and Trey learned to say backpack.

This was Trey's note from daycare on Friday:

 

"Trey was playing on the climber when he and Katie began such a cute little game.  Trey would duck behind the plexiglass and Katie would be on the other side laughing, smiling, and eventually they began giving kisses to each other.  So sweet!"

 

I hope Vanessa didn't see this!  She would be crushed. 

 

Trey can say both of their names.  Vanessa sounds like bah-dah, and Katie sounds like tee-tee.  He is SUCH a charmer!

This morning Trey was saying "crash" as he crashed his truck into everything. It sounds like "dash."

"I have said it before and I will say it again. I do not scrapbook.

I think as the daughter and granddaughter of people who like to save everything (we won't call them hoarders exactly as that would be rude) I have a sub-conscious aversion to becoming a historian. My husband and I have a no clutter policy that was written into our wedding vows, and I can never imagine finding the time or space to scrapbook, record, crop photos, and everything that goes with making those lovely little baby books. It is sad for the kids but I am not fooling anybody.

If you are like me just admit it, get over the feeling of inadequacy because you don't attend the local scrapping saloon and buy yourself some Tiny Tales. This way when you get the urge and baby does something cute you can simply jot it down, put it back it its rightful box and be done with it. Care to add a photo? A lock of hair? A ticket stub from their first dance recital? Just place it in the neat little box, organize by age and pat yourself on the back! You are a great mom even if you don't know what "crop" means. Heck I had to ask."

I will be launching the tiny tales blog shortly. The main feature is for people to tell their "tiny tales" - funny, amazing, heartwarming, etc. stories about kids.

Bill of Lading

The document that covers transport of goods by sea. Issued by the carrier to the consignor, it serves as a receipt for the goods, as evidence of the contract of transport and as a document of title to the goods. Bills of Lading are fully negotiable instruments. Transfer of the Bill of Lading transfers ownership of the goods from one party to another.

 

 

My bill of lading shows that the boxes will be on flight 990 on Asiana Airlines tomorrow.

Hat

Trey has been great with hats lately. He likes wearing them and keeps them on. Which is good because he has such blone hair and fair skin on his head, it is good for sun protection.
