Me: Why don't you read to your brother?
Trey: No. I'm going to read to duckie.
Me: Who do you like better, your brother or duckie?
Trey: Duckie.
Me: Trey! You should like your brother better.
Trey: But duckie quacks!

missing you
Last night when I was putting Trey to bed, we had this conversation:
Me: Did you miss me when I was gone all day?
Trey: Um…no!
Me: Do you know what it means to miss someone?
(long pause)
Trey: Ms. Arleen? (his teacher at school)

Jonah's 4 month checkup
weight: 13.5 lbs, 25th percentile
height: 24.75 inches, 50th percentile
head: 16 inches, 15th percentile
His percentiles were the exact same as last time, so he is growing right on track!
We can start feeding him solids now. Solids? Really? Wasn't my baby just born like a week ago? Wow these 4 months have flown by!
He slept through the night last night! from 7pm to 6:30 am. Hope that continues...
under the weather...
Again. This is my 5th time being sick in 4 months. Maybe my immune
system is still down from having the baby? Ugh.

I should be able to do this

here you go lara....
Me and trey playing in our closet (a bear’s cave)
Me: we can go in…the bear is not in there.
Trey: where did he go?
Me: he’s out looking for food….do you know what bears eat?
Trey: no, what?
Me: Berries, and nuts, and fish…
Trey: but I don’t like fish. Actually, I like gummy fish. Let’s go to grampy’s house and get Swedish Fish.

Happy 4 month birthday Jonah!
Baby boy is 4 months old today!
Jonah likes:
- To flash his gummy smile when you smile at him
- His bouncy seat with the kissing fishies
- Baths
- Being held
- To take short naps (although they do nothing for his mood afterwards)
Jonah does not like:
- His carseat
- When his bottle is delayed
- When trey is loud right by his face

new sheets
have. He's never had them on his bed because last winter he was in a
crib. When he got into bed last night, he told me "I need to wear
socks because these sheets hurt my toe." When I asked why, he said
"because these sheets usually do!" Today for nap he got into bed,
then threw the sheets off and said "Do I have socks on? Good. I
do. I should be ok then." No idea why he thinks these sheets hurt
his toe when he's never had them on his bed!
work
games, etc. "work." The kids roll out a white cloth mat, and do
their work for about an hour in the morning before circle time and
outside play, then another hour before school ends for the day. The
kids have to respect each other's work space, they can't walk on
someone else's mat, if they want the work someone else is using they
have to politely request it then wait until the other child is ready
to move onto something else, and they have to put up their work
before getting a new one.
Today Trey and I came home from the pet store (free entertainment
watching the birds, fish, rodents, and lizards), and he saw that Joe
was using the weed whacker and also had the lawn mower out. Trey
said "but daddy didn't put away his work before getting another one
out!" He was very distressed by this.

Let's answer this once and for all
think Trey looks more like Joe than me?
Being chased
Another time Trey said he was protecting the Pooh stuffed animal from the caimans. Only grampy knew what a caiman was!
Thanks to the writers at Nick Jr for teaching us about harpy eagles and caimans via Diego.
Ya think?
(As if I couldn't hear him)
Me: oh no! Why do you think he is crying?
Trey: probably because I bonked him on the head!
