The first egg!!!
Joe had gone to look for eggs only about 15 minutes before, so this egg is hot off the press. It was still warm.

Nice big boo boo
The boys took Eli outside, put him on the porch, then got in the porch swing and swung right into his forehead.

Jonah's new competitive sport
We went to the Elbert County Fair again on Sunday. The hilight of the day was the ice cream eating contest. Jonah might have found his calling - he smoked the competition in the 6 and under bracket. He might have eaten a bit of the styrofoam cup. This was his 2nd ice cream of the day too!
He won a t-shirt and sonic gift card.
When I was cheering on Jonah I said "Just a little bit more!" I looked at Eli and he was furiously doing the sign for more.

Jonah, in a nutshell
Jonah tried to squeeze Eli's cheek and got very close to his eye.
Me: Jonah you need to be more careful! You almost poked out his eye.
Jonah: what would happen to him?
Me: he wouldn't be able to see out of that eye!
Jonah: well, he would still be able to see out of his other eye.
Typical Jonah....

My new hiking partner
Trey did such a good job on our hike yesterday that I asked him if he wanted to get up early and go for a long hike this morning. He was so excited! When I woke him up at 5:45am he popped right out of bed. We stopped to pick up some hiking boots for him from a friend (too small), and we were on the trail by 6:30am. I've done this hike at Castlewood Canyon many times, and it is 4.5 miles with a steep start, then fairly flat the rest of the time with a few step hills. The scenery changes a lot - starts rocky up a hillside, then flat across the canyon rim, then a short section through tall grasses, then finish with 2 miles along a river.
Trey did excellently! We even ran for a half mile through a flat section near the end. He wasn't even winded going up the steep beginning. How do I know? He talked the whole time! We finished in 2 hour exactly which included a 5 minute stop for pictures at the top. It is a lot higher than it looks in the pictures!!
We are planning to go again on Wednesday before work and do the trail in reverse, which I have never done. There is also another trail we can add onto this one to make a 6.5 mile hike, so we might do that one soon. It is fun to have a new hiking partner!
I had my pepper spray in my hand the whole time just in case we met scary animals on the trail.
Smile!
Eli gives this goofy eyes shut smile when you say SMILE! We can't say "cheese" because cheese is his absolute favorite food and he'll look around manically if you say cheese.
Could this boy be any cuter???
If you look closely you can see where his top left tooth is shorter than his top right from when he chipped it a few nights ago.
P.s. He's clutching a banana in 1 hand and a small box of nerds (from the parade) in the other.

big day for Eli!
Today was Eli's 14th month birthday
Joe cut the thin chunk of long hair that hung down to the bridge of Eli's nose
Poor baby fell in the bath playing peekaboo with Mommy and chipped his front top tooth. :(
Next up: 1st trip to the dentist!

Man on the go!
It would be stretching the truth to say that Eli is cruising, but he
is definitely pulling himself up on everything (even glass doors), and
repositioning his feet.
He is also very grabby these days. It's hard to hold him with just 1
arm because if you get near something he wants, he practically
launches out of your arm to grab it.

I saw the sign
Yesterday Eli did the sign for eat. He has also started doing the sign for night night. Not when he wants those things, but when you say the word he will do the sign. He also does the sign for milk, but we think it means "I want."

This boy stares longingly at the fruit drawer
He loves when the fridge is open. He makes himself comfortable and stares at the fruit. Fruit, glorious fruit.

Gangsta
Eli has a really funny way of pointing to things. It looks like he is
flashing gang signs. Or making his fingers into a gun. Hopefully I
can get some video of it before he stops doing it!

Renaissance festival
Last weekend the kids and I went to the Renaissance festival in Larkspur. Always an interesting time! The boys liked the jousting on horses. Trey was having fun but Jonah was obsessed with spending his $6 on something.... Anything! So he went from hut to hut teary-eyed when they don't have anything that cheap.
