Happy ending
When I was doing his bedtime, Jonah made up a story about a clay bluebird he made today. He named the bird chirp chirp. The story ended with "and then everybody died." I said "oh buddy that isn't the kind of ending that I like." He said "okay… And everyone lived happily ever after. And then they all died."

poem
At Mimi's funeral on Sunday I read this poem. I remember all the times we'd drive to her house and she would swing open the front door and say, no matter what time we arrived, "Oh my sweet angels! You made it so early!"
She always leaned to watch for us
Anxious if we were late,
In winter by the window,
In summer by the gate.
And though we mocked her tenderly
Who had such foolish care,
The long way home would seem more safe,
Because she waited there.
Her thoughts were all so full of us,
She never could forget,
And so I think that where she is
She must be watching yet.
Waiting 'til we come home to her
Anxious if we are late

Me: an iPhone can make phone calls and an IPod can't
(Long pause)
Jonah: what is a phone call?
Me: you know, like when I call Daddy
Jonah: so when you text daddy?
Me: no... When I actually call daddy on the phone and talk to him
Jonah: so you talk to Siri?
Me: no! I talk to daddy. On the phone.

Terrible twos are coming!
If you take something away from Eli... Watch out! A slap to the face might be coming. He's slapped me several times over the last few days. Yesterday when I took something away from him, he had both hands over his head ready to strike but luckily I was ready. This boy is developing a temper!!
