Jonah's first early morning Mommy and Son hike

A few weeks ago I took Jonah on an early Mommy and son hike to Castlewood Canyon.  I knew he could cover the mileage that Trey and I usually do, so we tried a new route which was steeper but shorter.  It was really fun!  I bribed him with a post-hike treat so he wouldn't complain and he did very well, other than reminding me every 5 minutes that he hadn't complained.

Next time I'll remember to take his hiking poles that he got for his birthday.

We love our local Celtic festival

We've been every year. It's small and low key and not crowded. The boys get to hold real armor and swords, and watch sword fights.

Best kids toy EVER

The boys STILL play with their magna tiles! Eli has really gotten into them lately

Home Run Hitter!

This video is from Jonah's 2nd baseball game.  He is so excited he passes the kid at 2nd base.  Ha!

Jonah's 1st baseball game ever!

This video is from a few weeks ago.  Jonah is a natural!  And I think he likes baseball - he is trying and paying attention, which is really all I expect from him right now.  I just want him to find "his" sport.

Crazy for Paw Patrol

Paw Patrol is Eli's FAVORITE show.  He calls it "dah bowl."  There is a part of the show where they dance around and say "pup pup boogie."  When Eli gets all riled up he runs around the house screaming pup pup boogie!

Happiest place on earth

Mountain Bike Practice Track

On Friday we checked out the local mountain bike practice track.  I can't fit 2 bikes in my Highlander, so we just took Jonah's bike and the boys shared.  They both did awesome!  Trey didn't like it was much as Jonah - maybe because the bike was too small for him?  We'll definitely be going back!

First long hike of the year

It's been so rainy this spring that this is the first long hike of the year. We made pretty good time although we were both tired by the end.

I actually cooked!

Joe was out with a friend so I was on my own for dinner. Granted, the rice and veggies were microwaved, but I cooked it with eggs and soy sauce and rice wine vinegar. It was so yummy!!

Of all the things I reminded him to do at camp, I forgot this one

Right when I see Jonah at camp pickup:

Mommy!  Guess what!  These are the clothes I had on when you dropped me off at camp.  Then I slept in these clothes.  Then I wore them the next day.  Then I slept in them again.  Then I have them on again today!

Ugh.  Of all the places to re-use clothes, summer camp is NOT the place to do it.  And sleeping in the same clothes, yuck!

Jonah has a major issue with changing in front of anyone - even changing his shirt (yet he will wear his bathing suit with no shirt all day long).  I don't get it, but apparently I should have specifically asked for him to find a way to change his clothes privately.

Rapids

Trey and Joe have gone to several Colorado Rapids soccer games this year and always have a great time!

finally tall enough to ride the big slide at the pool!

at least according to the teenager working the front desk last week. I hope the next person doesn't break his heart and say he isn't tall enough!

Summer camp dropoff

Trey starts his first day at summer camp today. I can't believe it! He is there until Friday afternoon. He didn't seem nervous at all - I think he will love it!

Jonah goes on Wednesday for 2 nights.

On to the next sport…

As long as the weather holds, tonight will be Jonah's first baseball practice. We weren't cleared from the waiting list until after the first week, so he missed a practice and a game. Then the next practice was rained out, so he would've played a game without ever having a practice, but luckily that game was rained out. That could've been a complete disaster! He doesn't really know the rules, and we haven't had much luck so far with Jonah and team sports. He says he wants his position to be batter. And when I told him he has to have a position on the field for when his team is on defense, he said-no… I'm just going to play batter. So interested to see how this goes!

His team color is yellow and the name is the Pirates (like Pittsburgh Pirates!). So I'm hoping that is good luck.

Funny habit

Eli has this funny habit of putting food in his mouth then sucking on it for a very long time-like 10 or 20 minutes long. He does it with his juice plus vitamins, carrots, cheese… Sometimes I'll see he has this funny pursed lips look, then I'll realize he still sucking on something I gave him a while back. When I ask him about it he'll smile then show me what's in his mouth.

I snuck in to take a picture of Eli cuddling with his new toys, and apparently he wasn't asleep yet!
