We got a decent amount of snow Friday and Saturday. I went with a friend to a new hike-Bergen Peak-9.4 miles and 2000 vertical feet, and it was so incredibly beautiful with the snow. We opted not to use snowshoes which was the right choice as we didn't totally need them and I didn't want to get stuck carrying them, but that made it more challenging to get to the top. On the way down the sun was already doing it's thing, so parts of the trail were really slushy and muddy. It took us almost 6 hours to go up and down. It probably would've been closer to 4 hours had it been completely dry.
Part of the trail went through a wildlife protection area, but ironically we did not see any wildlife until we were back on the road and there was an elk crossing the street. Ha!
Couple of funny kids, crazy dogs, and parents who don't feel old enough to be parents.

Baseball tournament
Jonah is playing in a baseball tournament this weekend. 2 games on Saturday and 2 games so far today. He's been in a hitting slump but got a hit in the last game! He also pitched a few innings and struck out 2 batters.

Jonahs first baseball game of the spring season
They lost 12 to 4 but the team actually looked pretty good! Jonah sat on the bench a couple innings, played 3rd base and center field when he was on the field.
The picture of the beautiful catch he made was during practice not the game.

Hike: ridgeway open space
Jonah and I went on a great hike this morning! Only 3.5 miles but nice hills and in castle rock, so close.

At school Eli's teacher was having the kids make pretend cake. Eli shouted "I'm making alcohol cake!"

New school next year! American Academy
The boys got into American Academy next year! It is a charter school in Douglas County. It will be a brand-new campus, they just broke ground, but American already has 3 other campuses nearby so it is not a new school.
The boys will be wearing uniforms which I am really excited about.
It is supposed to be tough academically-they said expect 1 to 2 hours of homework per day for middle school and at least an hour a day for elementary school.
They also have a focus on manners. All kids are required to address adults as yes ma'am or yes sit.
I can't wait! Uniforms, tougher expectations, manners… I won't recognize my own kids!
