Brilliant mommy!

I have a very cool fabric advent calendar that hangs on the wall. I wanted to put candy in each day, but knowing how candy obsessed trey is, I could see him pulling up a stool to get all the candy out. So today it hit me! I can do something like stickers. Something he can look forward to, but not something he is going to obsess about all day.

Poor baby

I just noticed today that jonah's 3rd bottom tooth and his upper right and left molars have just popped through! Poor baby to be getting so many teeth at once.

I love being home!

I was out of town all week for business, and it sure feels good to be home.  This was my conversation with Trey soon after I walked in:

me:  Trey did you miss me?

Trey:  no.

{longgggg pause}

I have good eyes even better than Daddy or Blackie or you or a coyote and I looked all the way to your work and watched you.

{i think in his own way he was trying to say that he felt connected to me, even though we were separated by many miles.  or maybe he was just babbling.  who knows what runs through the kid's head.  he's so quirky.}

My job

Joe thinks my job requires too many buzzwords. I have to work a bit today, and to one-up me he told me he has 3 con calls and a noon webinar.

Tonight we stayed up late, and Trey didn't go to bed until almost 9pm.  He wanted me to read him a book, but I didn't want to turn the light on in his room so I told him I would make up stories.  I told 2 stories, admittedly lame.  One starred a boy named Ray and another a boy named Kay.  Anyway...I finished, and Trey was silent for a while.  Then he said "Mommy....is that all you know?"  I said yes, my made-up stories were over.  Trey then said "I think I like the real books better."  ouch.

Recent Trey-isms

Me:  Trey you have lots of toys to pick up tonight before bed, so I wouldn't go getting out a bunch more toys right now.
Trey: I would.

Trey: Mommy I need privacy.
Me:  Ok.  Jonah let's leave the room.  Trey needs privacy.
Trey:  No Jonah can stay.  I just need privacy from you.


Tonight Trey picked swedish fish from his Halloween candy stash for dessert.  After he ate them, he changed his mind and wanted a popsicle.  He started to throw a fit when Joe told him that wasn't the way it worked...that he could change his mind BEFORE he ate the treat but not after.  So Trey said "well I'll just have another dinner and we'll see."  So he is currently sitting at the dinner table eating another serving of pasta.

Lost lovies

we lost "jonah's bear" somewhere on the trip. and contrary to what you might think, it was trey's.

Fast friends

Trey made a friend, named Trey. They've been palling around all weekend. When they run off to play, Jonah hobbles after them as fast as he can with his frankenstein walk. Ahh... The trials and tribulations of being the younger sibling, trying to keep up. I can relate.

Friday at the Festival

We had a great day!  Tons to see and do, including Trey's first ferris wheel ride.  Both boys loved the concert.  2 songs dancing with Mommy and Jonah was out for the night.  Trey hung in until about 8:30, then was ready to call it a day.

Lil' walker and talker!

At Grandma Jan's, we went to a very cool park in her town to blow off some steam. Jonah was a walking fool! When we were leaving, I picked him up and he started yelling na na na na na na! I'm pretty sure he was saying "no." As I was carrying him back to the car and I noticed that he was signing "more," so I said "more walk?". He got a big smile on his face. So I let him down to walk and he was so happy!

Our home for the next 10 days!

Amazing!

Just hours after getting ear tubes this morning, Jonah said his first word! Ball. Then a few hours later he said his 2nd word: more. My baby can speak!!!

Ready for surgery!

It's ear tubes day. Wee hoo!
