Me: Eli how about doing a smaller slide?
Eli: I like this one! It's nice and a little bit dangerous.
Couple of funny kids, crazy dogs, and parents who don't feel old enough to be parents.

A new tradition?
This morning the boys and I made a recipe I have been wanting to try for oatmeal muffins. They were more like a cross between muffins and granola bars because they didn't have any flour in them, and were touted as being a good breakfast for kids.
We had a good system going-Trey was in charge of reading the recipe, Jonah poured the ingredients in, I supervised, and Joe yelled pointers from his perch on the couch. It was really fun and the results were yummy! Maybe this is a new Sunday morning tradition?

Hunter gatherers in the suburbs
The boys were on the prowl for bunnies. Joe said he would pay $10 if they caught a bunny. Jonah actually hit a bunny with his arrow but it just bounced off and the bunny didn't even run!

Today's Jonah-isms
"Mommy can I see you kiss Daddy so I can pick up some kissing tips?"
-----
After Joe whispered something to me..
Jonah: "What were you whispering about? Turds?"
Hiking: Red Rocks
Hiking Red Rocks with sister-in-law Ginna. We are accountability partners for our 2016 goals, so this was our check-in for January.
Jonah has a baseball trainer
Well sort of. A couple of times I've paid the next-door neighbor boy to do baseball drills with Jonah. He is in high school and plays baseball. He is so good with Jonah and doesn't let him off easy.
We had plans for a training session today and when the weather wasn't that nice, Dawson called his friend in the neighborhood who has a baseball set up in their barn. It was really cool! This is Jonah standing right outside of the barn door.
Private lessons for only $10 an hour. What a bargain! They have a session again tomorrow. Practice starts in March for the spring season, so I want Jonah to be ready.

Excited for our wood stove!
Our wood stove is being delivered next week, just in time for 70 degree weather. :) Joe bought a load of firewood and had some helpers to move and stack it, including cousin Ryan who was hanging out for the day.

"That's so weird!"
Eli's latest favorite phrase is "that's SO WEIRD!" Everything is so weird. The characters in books are so weird. The dogs are so weird.

I made it all of January without any kind of bread (including pizza), fried food, or alcohol! I feel less puffy, but mostly I am proud I stuck to my goal.
Now...to figure out February's goal...
