Happiness is sitting in the driveway in a comfy chair drinking a beer watching the kids play.

I don't want summer to end....

Me: when I was in kindergarten, there were no computers in our school!

Trey: oh.... Only iPods?

Me: no, no iPods either.

Trey: no phones?

Me: we had phones attached to the wall, but no cell phones.

Trey: oh.... Only Blackberries?

Trey: mommy will you buckle my seatbelt?

Me: sure buddy.

Trey: see.... The problem is.... I just didn't try very hard.

Going to get school supplies!

I can't believe my baby will be starting kindergarten in a little over a week!

Making friends

I told Trey how proud I was of him that he was so good at making friends. He said "I know. It's easy for me. Want me to teach you? You just start talking to someone, then you are friends!"

Later today at the park Trey started to pal around with a little boy there. He ran over to me and said "did you see mommy? THAT'S how you make friends!"

Overheard

The showers at the campground are free for cold water, and $3 for hot water. There is also a pool which is $4 for the day.

Overheard, man talking to a woman who I assume is his wife:

Woman: I cheated, I paid for the hot shower.

Man: but you went to the pool today!

Woman: I know, but I didn't get in the water.

Man: the whole reason we paid for the pool is so we wouldn't have to pay for your shower!!

Last night jonah was crying out in his sleep, so I went to check on him. His whole upper body was in his zipped sleeping bag and his lower half was sticking out. It's like he crawled in head first!

Trey: mommy if you were nicer.... I mean, if I was a Mommy, I would give my kids the whole bag of marshmallows.

Joe: "jonah get your finger out of your nose!"

Jonah: "but I'm hungry and thirsty!"

Me: maybe I'll sleep in the bed with you tonight.

Trey: nooooooooo! I want to sleep in the bed with jonah!

Me: why?

Trey: he's more fun - sometimes in the middle of the night he rolls over and cuddles.
