Me: oh do you? Does she know she is your girlfriend?
Jonah: no but I will tell her on Monday
Trey: have you kissed her?
Jonah: no, but I want to

Day 1
Our first day in San Diego! We couldn't get into the condo until 3, so after a LONG wait at Dollar rental car, we had a late lunch near the condo. The boys played in the sand right outside the porch.

New discovery
I've been wanting to check out Aurora Reservoir for a while now. I can see it on my way to work. It is the site of my infamous bike crash when I was competing in my one and only triathlon (from which I still have no feeling in my right hip). I haven't been back and that was 5 years ago.
It was a beautiful weekend and the kids and I were looking for something to do since Joe was sealing the driveway, so we went to check it out. What a cool place, and so close to home! Beach, playground, snack bar, crystal clear water (Aurora's drinking water supply), boat rentals in the summer, 5k trail and 8 mile trail around the reservoir.
The boys all loved it! It was completely deserted even though it was a beautiful few days. I can see us coming all the time to bike, swim in the summer, and play in the sand.

Math Olympiad
Trey is so excited about starting Math Olympiad on Tuesday. It's for 4th and 5th graders, but they asked a few 3rd grader to join. He goes every Tuesday from 8:15-9am before school to learn new ways to solve math problems. They do a practice timed test once a month, then start competitive against other school in the spring. I hope he enjoys it! The sample problems they sent home were hard!
Math Olympiad
Math Olympiad targets 4th and 5th graders who love math and love to think their way through tricky problems. This club meets every Tuesday morning from 8:15 - 9:00 starting October 7 and ending mid March. Math Olympiad students compete against teams from all over the country.

Finally paid off!!
Trey broke a neighbors window a few months ago, and had to put all his allowance and money made from odd jobs to it. It is finally paid off! He is so excited!

Friday night fun!
Trey was running around without shoes on today, and stepped on something. Because of the white part I thought it was a rock stuck in his foot, so off to the doctor we went. After they flushed it it was just white because of the deep cut. No stitches or glue or anything. Just some excitement!

Trail run
Last weekend I did a 10k trail run race at Castlewood Canyon. I did really well (for me)! It was tough, but I started slowly, walked the steep up and down parts, jogged most of it, and passed a bunch of people in the middle. I ended up with a time of 1:26 (4 minutes faster than my goal of 1:30), and finished 47th out of 76 women.

Snakey
A few weeks ago the boys caught a tiny garter snake and named him Snakey. They built a home for him in a plastic bin.
Trey was very upset that night because Joe had told him that snakey was going to die. I finally got him calm down by telling him that eventually snakey would die but not tomorrow. Then the next day he let it out for some exercise, snakey slithered off, and Trey didn't seem to care. Kids!
Golf cart fun
Not surprisingly, Jonah drives with reckless abandon and Trey drives with an abundance of caution. A glimpse into their future.
