Last week Trey moved from the infant room at daycare to the toddler room. The toddler room is MUCH more structured than the infant room, and the teachers say he cries often during transition from 1 activity to another, which is typical for his age. He also has a hard time making it to 12:30 for nap. He will get used to it I know. He was starting to get bored in the infant room with all the babies. In the toddler room they eat all together at a table (feeding themselves), and drink from dixie cups (not sippies). Of course no bottles allowed in the toddler room, and they sleep on a mat on the floor. He is really growing up!

TODDLER DAILY SCHEDULE
7:00- 9:00 ARRIVAL We begin our days combined in Toddler 5 and Toddler 2.Different activities, manipulatives and experiences are open to the children at this time. Because we are combined, children from all four toddler rooms can visit and play with one another. As more children, and therefore more teachers, arrive for the day, we will split into two, three and finally all four of the different rooms.
9:00- 9:30 DIAPERS AND TOILET At this time children are diapered or helped with toileting and toilet learning.
9:30- 10:00 SNACK Children meet as a group and enjoy a snack together. Snack is provided by the center and menus are provided for parents to preview what is being served.
10:00-11:30- DURING THIS TIME all four toddler rooms become very busy with their planned daily activities. All classrooms in the center have specific times for use of the different areas of the building, and caregivers incorporate these different spaces into their curriculum. The toddlers may be taking turns with the sprinkler, riding bikes in the toddler playground, climbing equipment on the park playground, gone for a walk, painting, using play dough, doing puzzles, dancing in the activity room, baking, enjoying books with their teachers, planting and tending a garden, or building with blocks. This is one of the most active times of the day and we fill it with many different enriching experiences.
11:30- 12:00 DIAPERS AND TOILET At this time children are diapered or helped with toileting and toilet learning.
12:00-12:30 LUNCH Children meet as a group and enjoy lunch together. We use this time to work on self help skills, such as feeding oneself, indicating needs and desires, and cleaning up.
12:30- 3:00 NAPTIME Children have this time for resting or sleeping. The children will enjoy a relaxing environment in which to sleep with drawn shades, gentle music and one on one attention from caregivers as they are soothed to sleep by having their backs rubbed or being sung to. Those who choose not to sleep and those who awaken are invited to look at books, color, use play dough or any other quiet activity while others are still sleeping.
3:00-3:30 DIAPERS AND TOILET At this time children are diapered or helped with toileting and toilet learning.
3:30-4:00 SNACK Children meet as a group and enjoy a snack together. Snack is provided by the center and menus are provided for parents to preview what is being served. Please let your child’s caregivers know if there are any menu items that your child has not tried yet, or items that you do not wish for your child to eat.
4:00 – 5:00 TEACHER PLANNED ACTIVITIES Again, we may be on the playground, using manipulatives, doing artwork, baking, sensory play, etc.
5:00- 6:00 COMBINE Children from all of the six toddler rooms begin to combine as children and teachers begin to go home. The children may be found on any of our playgrounds, indoor spaces or classrooms. A note will be left on your child’s classroom door as to where your child is playing.
