Yesterday trey and I were reading a book about teeth (teeth are not for biting) and I asked him to show me his teeth. He did, but I could only see his top teeth. So I said "show me your bottom teeth!" and he patted his butt!

The best bran muffins ever

Now this will be worth coming back to the blog for! My long lost Carver Middle School BFF will be sending me the best bran muffin recipe ever. So light and fluffy. And just in time too! I was just invited to Cousin Allyn's email recipe exchange. No offense allyn - but I'm probably not the best person to rely on in a recipe exchange since joe does all of the cooking. But now I can deliver with the Moyers Family Bran Muffin recipe! It will posted shortly.

As alluded to earlier, my best friend from middle school just got back in touch after probably over a decade of being out of contact. How fun is google?? We had a blast back then cheering together (if anyone can dig up a cheerleading photo of us in our embroidered not iron on purple cheerleading jackets I will post it here), going papering, and being very silly. Ahhhh... Good memories.

My future daughter-in-law

The morning routine with vanessa is getting to be very funny! When she first started in the toddler room, she would cling to her dad crying. Now, as soon as she sees me, she squirmes to get away from her dad to run over to me. She either hugs my leg or wants me to hold her. Its a little strange in front of her dad b/c she is so excited to see me, and I wonder if he minds that she wants me to hold her. I usually stay for 10 minutes or so to read a book with her and Trey or play with the trucks, so she has really taken to me. And honesly, can you blame her?

The other morning Trey gave her a kiss right on the lips right in front of me and her dad. I just shrugged my shoulders like "what can I say? He has a way with the ladies.". Needless to say they both have colds right now, and I'm not sure who gave it to whom.

I have never seen her in the same outfit twice, and I can't help but imagine all the clothes she must have! Trey has a bunch, but he is so easy to dress. I just grab pants and a few tops to layer (and his awesome new myself belts) and we are good to go.

confession

I have a confession to make…  Trey has been waking up very early the last few weeks (like 6am).  Even though I get up at 5:30, I still don’t have time to get ready by the time Trey gets up at 6, and if I don’t give him something to do he follows me around from room to room whining (his new favorite activity).  So I have been letting him watch TV in the morning.  We made it to almost 2 years of no TV (except the weekend we watched about 6 hours of Sesame Street b/c I was so sick and Joe was out of town).  He only watches about 15 minutes at a time.  Thanks to the wonders of OnDemand, we have tried out a few different shows.  Here is my analysis:

 

• Sesame Street:  always a winner.  Trey LOVES Elmo and Cookie Monster.
• Barney – this is HORRIBLE.  I can’t believe kids like this.  The acting is atrocious and the whole episode is some lesson.  Urgh. 
• Thomas the Train:  Trey and I love the toys, but the episodes aren’t that great.
• Bob the Builder:  our absolute favorite.  It is clay animation and so very cool to watch.  Since Trey loves tractors, this keeps his interest.
• Diego:  we’ve only watched 1 partial episode.  I don’t really like letting him watch a cartoon, but this one is so interactive it is probably ok.  The characters ask the viewers to do motions and say things along with them.
• Wiggles:  LOVE the wiggles.  Now I understand why they are an international sensation.  Trey dances when they come on. 
• Teletubbies:  horrible.  Awful.  So boring. I can’t believe this is on TV.

 

 

Nashville Baby Guide

The Nashville area Baby Guide (circulation 13,000 +) is coming out on Monday featuring Tiny Tales in its “Baby Bits” section on new products.  Hopefully I’ll see a good response in the form of sales, sales, and more sales!  I will post a link when it is available.

don't get too excited....

As my PR woman says – don’t believe it until you see it in print – but Tiny Tales is supposed to be in Pregnancy&Newborn magazine’s January issue, which will come out in December.  This is a fairly new magazine (started about a year ago), and is available in bookstores and doctor’s offices.  Keep your fingers crossed I don’t end up on the cutting room floor!

Oh no!

Trey has started saying "oh no!" and it is so funny. It sounds like ah-noooooo. Last night we were playing with a train, and the parts of the train were coming apart, and he said oh no over and over again. I have a digital voice recorder, so I will try this weekend to get some good recordings of him talking. He has the sweetest baby voice.

Drain

So funny how Trey will be fine with something, then literally the next day he changes his mind. He used to love the drain in the bath. Now he will play happily in the bath until he notices the drain, and then try to climb out of the bath yelling "drain, drain, drain, drain" and looking at it like it is going to attack him!

Congrats!

Congrats to Aunt Christine who just earned her PhD!! She will be coming home from Germany within a few months, and we are excited to have her back.

Whole foods!

Stay tuned for more information, but whole foods is interested in tiny tales for their regional 'buy local' program. Not sure if they are going to carry it yet, and not sure how many stores, but it is very exciting!!
