My Perfect Day

Saturday was the perfect day.

We started the day with one of my favorite activities - a parade. This weekend was the Douglas County Rodeo, which included a parade in downtown Castle Rock. Trey also loves parades. What kid doesn't like fire trucks, police motorcycles, and candy being hurled through the air? At first Trey was a bit timid to jump into the fray of candy-grabbing kids. But with a little encouragement from Daddy, he started to get into it. He developed a candy-grabbing stance: arms out for balance and to fend off other kids, knees bent, eyes wide open....ready to pounce at a moment's notice. The haul puts Halloween to shame.

After lunch and naps, we went to Denver to see Clint and Ginna's new place. It was super cute and it was good to see them. I even got an early birthday present!

On a whim, we decided to go to the Brewgrass festival in Denver. They blocked off a street and had music and beer. And who to our surprise appeared but Cousin Stephen and Grace! It was fun to hang out outside and enjoy the Denver weather and let the kids run around.

A future model? Or plotting his next misbehavior?

Give the kid some plastic cups with a little bit of beer left in the bottom and he is a happy camper!

And he's on the move! Must have spotted some food...

And in the meantime Trey was charming a group of strangers.

Notice Trey talking to a new group of strangers. Right after this photo was taken I saw one of those people helping Trey do a backwards somersault. I can't even imagine the conversation.

We got the kids into bed late but it was worth it!
